Roll Bonding of Al-Based Composite Reinforced with C10 Steel Expanded Mesh Inlay

The most complex issue related to the design of high efficiency composite materials is behavior reinforcing component during bonding process. This study presents numerical and experimental investigations shape change in inlay an aluminum-steel mesh-aluminum roll-bonding. A flat material consisting two outer strips EN AW 1050 alloy expanded C10 steel mesh was obtained via hot roll with nominal rolling reductions 20%, 30%, 40% 50% at a temperature 500 °C. procedure carried out using separate mills diameters equal 135 200 mm, respectively. computer simulation performed finite element software QForm 9.0.10 by Micas Simulations Limited, Oxford, UK. distortion evaluated angle between its strands described tomography scanning. dependence absorbed impact energy bonded on parameters deformation zone found. results concur data from micro-CT scans composites. diameter rolls applied bonding, along reduction temperature, have influence resulting mechanical properties, i.e., bending energy.
